According to an article at Inman News, there are four leading home projects most Americans work on the most. And by the way, these four projects, I do not suggest doing them if you plan to sell your home. They are not worth the money, the time, nor the aggravation. And most likely you will lose money.
So what are the four home projects?
They are the kitchen, bathrooms, adding an extra room, and updating windows.
Chances are you already knew the kitchen and baths were going to be said. About the extra room, I do see this growing trend among my clients. For one reason or another, they choose to add a place with its door to the exterior for privacy. And typically, it is to house aging parents that are moving in with the kids (who are now homeowners).
And the windows. If you do plan to sell your home, and you have the itch to do something, do the windows. Let me clarify. I do not suggest you spend the money on this project if you plan to sell soon. But, if you want to spend the money for whatever personal reason, do the windows.
And I say this because unless you own a multi-million dollar home, most windows are the same. There is very little uniqueness to it. You can either get it in white or dark color. Vertical or horizontal openings, etc. That’s it, right?
It’s not like a kitchen or a bathroom that contain unique tastes to it. Have you ever heard; “everyone will like your kitchen, but no one will build one just like yours?”
